Our range of corrugated, galvanised steel Fire Tanks are designed to store large amounts of water for fire-fighting purposes at industrial and agricultural sites. The steel used in the tanks construction is approved to BS2989:1982 regulations and is galvanised with lead free zinc to 600g/m² to EN10142 regulations.

Tank Dimensions:
Diameter: 7360mm
Tank Shell Height: 4620mm
Tank Height inc. Cover: 5416mm

The fire tanks use a 1.00mm EPDM waterproof membrane liner as standard. EPDM is used as it is very strong and hard wearing and offers excellent cut through, abrasion and UV resistance.

Liner info:
Colour: Matt black
Abrasion resistance: Excellent
Chemical resistance: Good
Cut through resistance: Excellent
Flexibility: Very flexible
Temperature resistance: Very good
UV Resistance: Excellent
Repair with: Glue and a patch

All fire tanks are supplied with a galvanised steel roof constructed to a unique design with all purlins fixed to a centre pole, similar to the spokes of a wheel. The metal structure is clad in 0.7mm zinc-coated steel segments which create a lightweight yet robust tank cover that will keep your water supply secure and free from bacterial and biological algae growth.

Our galvanised Fire water tank kits include:

  • Superior supply tank
  • Side access man-way
  • Roof access ladder
  • Vortex inhibitor
  • Overflow protection
  • Depth gauge
  • Immersion heater
  • Low level drain
  • Flanged suction outlet
  • Test return connection

Superior Supply Tank - as defined by BS EN 12845 ensures the need for emptying the tank for maintenance purposes is reduced to a period of not less than 10 years. The tank is galvanised for corrosion protection at 600g/m².

Side Access Man-way - provides a 600mm opening in the side wall of the tank to allow safe human access for maintenance, repair or inspection. Hot dip galvanised finish to BS EN ISO 1461:2009.

Roof Access Ladder - allows for safe accent and working stage for fixing or adjusting the incoming water regulating valve (also supplied). The ladder has been designed in accordance with BS 4211 incorporating safety cage and platform with guard rail. All components are hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461:2009.

Vortex Inhibitor - sized to connect onto and suit the specific flow-rate from the suction pump (suction pump not supplied). LPCB approved and designed to prevent air entering the pump suction line when the water in the tank reaches low levels.

Overflow protection - water board compliant tank outlet designed to satisfy family type AB air gap requirements of BS EN 13077:2003.

Depth Gauge - LPCB approved permanent hydrostatic and battery operated tanks contents measuring device. A 160mm diameter stainless steel dial which is normally tank mounted but can be remotely connected up to 200 metres from the tank.

Immersion Heater - 3Kw dual element heater which prevents water in the vicinity of the ball valve from freezing. The heater can be maintained or replaced without the need to drain the tank.

Low Level Drain - a 25mm outlet with brass bodied gate valve for efficient emptying of the tank when required for maintenance.

Flanged Suction Outlet - Galvanised steel in a range of sizes up to 450mm Nominal Bore (NB).

Test Return Connection - 100mm NB. Integral to the raised ball valve housing.

All our fire tanks have been approved for use as pump suction tanks in accordance with the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) rules for Automatic Sprinkler installations and BS EN 12845: Fixed Fire-Fighting Systems - Automatic Sprinkler Systems - Design, Installation and Maintenance. LPCB sets standards for fire and security products and provides objective confirmation that these products will perform effectively and safely.

This is what the LPCB had to say about these tanks;

'A water storage tank which shall be designed and protected against corrosion such that the need for emptying the tank for maintenance is reduced to a period of not less than 10 years (BS EN 12845 clauses 9.6.2)'

The fire tanks are constructed from steel that has been galvanised with 600g/m² of galvanising in total and the tank is supplied with an EPDM interior lining. This means the fire tanks comply with the LPCB criteria for fire tank design.

LPS 1276 also stipulates requirements for:

  • Inspection regime - both exterior and interior
  • Lined tanks
  • Ancillary equipment

These tanks meet these LPCB requirements and in addition comply with the LPCB requirements that each tank bears a plate stating:

  • The name and address of the manufacturer
  • The date of installation
  • The LPCB reference number including the type suffix “Superior”
  • The maximum capacity in cubic metres

Tank Placement
It is highly recommended that the steel water tanks are sited on a concrete base. The concrete should be a minimum of 100mm thickness and the concrete should be type C35 300kg/m³.

C35 is a very strong concrete mix that is recommended for use on industrial floors, reinforced foundations, piling and underpinning.

Please see the table below for base requirements.

Tank Diameter Minimum Base Diameter Concrete Required Sand Required
7360mm 8060mm 4.92m³ 2.10m³
11042mm 11642mm 12.25m³ 5.55m³
14722mm 15322mm 18.22m³ 8.41m³

Important delivery information
Please note the tanks are delivered using a 40ft articulated lorry and the receiving customer is responsible for the safe offloading of the tank from the delivery vehicle. The tanks are delivered on pallets, therefore a fork lift truck or similar is required.

If for any reason delivery on an articulated lorry is not possible, please make us aware of this so that alternate arrangements can be made. Please note additional charges may app
