What is the difference between a baffled and non-baffled water tank?

Baffled water tanks features an internal component, whether barriers, moulded grooves or pillars, that restrict the movement of water. For upright tanks, baffled options are usually preferable as they greatly reduce surging and the momentum water carries when fixed in cars that break and turn corners.

Without this feature, water is effectively free to slosh around inside the container, which puts greater strain on weight distribution in your vehicle and leads to less reliable handling.

The only real downside to baffled tanks is that the interior barriers make the container harder to clean or inspect, but if you are purchasing a water tank exclusively to be used on the go, the positives in safety alone more than outweigh this.
